Implementation of waste management at local bodies, Education institutions, Corporates and at Gated communities. Around 3.5Lakhs Household per day in 65 different location of tamandu and collect around 300tons of solid waste per day, with in that we produce around 30 tons of bio compost every day.

The First Stage

Proper solid-waste collection is important for the protection of public health, safety, and environmental quality. It is a labour-intensive activity, accounting for approximately three-quarters of the total cost of solid-waste management.

The Second Stage

Once collected, municipal solid waste may be treated in order to reduce the total volume and weight of material that requires final disposal. Treatment changes the form of the waste and makes it easier to handle. It can also serve to recover certain materials, as well as heat energy, for recycling or reuse.

Although there are many methods available to dispose off waste. Main methods used by us are Landfills, Incineration/Combustion, Recovery and Recycling, Plasma gasification, Composting, Waste to Energy (Recover Energy) and lastly Avoidance/Waste Minimization

Our Accomplishments

GEPL is carrying out solid waste management project at Sri Ramachandra Medical University, Porur. The solid waste generated at the campus are collected and segregated and processed within the campus adhering to Solid waste management Rules 2016. The waste handled mechanically utilizing machineries such as conveyor belt, baling machines, Shredding machine and in vessel composting machinery. Vermi composting has also been carried out to handle vegetable waste from canteen.
